It’s here!  Our first issue of Trojan Talk has arrived.
You can purchase a copy for 25¢ in the cafeteria during lunch beginning Monday May 7. 
For our next issue, we want to hear from 9th graders about their experiences here at East. Do you have any last words you want to say before you move onto High School?  Now is your chance to leave your Last Will and Testament.  Here is an example Mr. Gaffigan used, “I, Tiffany Blanton, leave my basketball playing ability to my brother, Juwan Blanton.”
Submit all entries for the writing contest; all guesses for the mystery contest; questions for Tesa, and; Last Wills and Testaments into the box at the circulation desk in the Media Center or to Mrs. Rumfelt. Deadline for submission to the next issue is May 16th

Help fight the war on Breast Cancer....

Jared Carver, a Senior at McDowell High School, is planning a Pink Out Night for March 29 during the Titan Baseball Game. He has designed a shirt that is for sale. The shirt has the Titan Baseball Symbol on the front. The back has the words "Strike Out Cancer" and an image of cross bats with a baseball in the center enclosing the cancer ribbon symbol. There are two colors of the shirt, pink and white, and all sizes are available. The cost of the shirt is $10. Money raised will support Relay for Life. If you are interested in purchasing, please see Ashley Gibby, and she will be sure that you get one. Thanks so much for your support. Hope to see you at the game on March 29! Pictures of the shirts are located on the East website.

Great news 8th graders! A few new spots have opened up for the Outer Banks trip. If you'd like to go, it's not too late. See Mr. Boyles for the details and forms. Do this quickly, there are not many spots and they will be filled first come.

Help fight the war on Breast Cancer....

Jared Carver, a Senior at McDowell High School, is planning a Pink Out Night for March 29 during the Titan Baseball Game. He has designed a shirt that is for sale. The shirt has the Titan Baseball Symbol on the front. The back has the words "Strike Out Cancer" and an image of cross bats with a baseball in the center enclosing the cancer ribbon symbol. There are two colors of the shirt, pink and white, and all sizes are available. The cost of the shirt is $10. Money raised will support Relay for Life. If you are interested in purchasing, please see Ashley Gibby, and she will be sure that you get one. Thanks so much for your support. Hope to see you at the game on March 29! Student Council will meet today from 3:45 - 4:15 in Ms. E. Leatherman's room.

Reminder to 8th graders going on the outer banks trip: final payment is due this week. All of you were given a letter a couple of weeks ago with the balance that should be paid this week. If you have questions or problems with getting this paid, please see Mr. Boyles. There will be one more doughnut sale starting this week and you can use that toward your trip also.
 
Track & Field; Field T-shirts available for $5.00. Sizes available are Youth Large, Youth X-Large and Adult Small. If you have a student that might would like one, please have them come and see me in my office.The YMCA is organizing a soccer league for 7th and 8th graders. If you are interested in playing you can see Mr. Boyles or go by the Y. Registration runs through Sunday.

If you have questions or problems with getting this paid, please see Mr. Boyles. There will be one more doughnut sale starting this week and you can use that toward your trip also.

MHS Student Council is sponsoring a dance for all 9-12th grade students. The dance is February 24th from 7-10 pm in the high school commons. The cost is $5 and all proceeds will be donated to the Meals That Heal soup kitchen located at Clinchfield Methodist Church.
